I am a writer. I graduated in 2002 with a bachelor's degree from The City College of New York in Communications and Literature. I am a member of The Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
While I was in college I was a panelist at the open house of my division of City College. I was also published in poetry and short story journals and garnished 6 credits for a 176 page manuscript I worked on over a three year period.
I have been a member of The National League of American Pen Women, a historical writing organization that could once brag that Elenor Roosevelt was a member. I've also been a member of The International Women's Writing Guild since 1995, a writing organization that enourages women all over the world to share their varying levels of writing experience and knowledge with each other in order to teach, study and hone their craft as writers and as women who believe in the power and possibility of the written word.
At the community level, I've been the moderator for a local fiction book club for the last two years. In April of 2009, we were elected to unofficially kick off THE BIG READ literacy initiative program funded by The National Endowment of the Arts, by leading a discussion on A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines.
I am available to write articles, copy and newsletters, to work on moderate length editing jobs particularly in the genres of self-help, memoir, and literary fiction. I am also able to assist with oral presentations in terms of both the writing and the rehearsal and delivery of said presentation to create a more powerful experience for you and your audience. I am available to tutor and coach children and am particularly interested in assisting ages nine through thirteen in more effective communication, sharper critical thinking and general reading/writing/language arts skills.
